Gina Glocksen, the third finalist booted out from the American Idol, had discovered that the media is interested more about Sanjaya Malakar than her own experience on the show. Gina Glocksen, however, answered several questions about Sanjaya and, being his friend, she defended him. When asked if it is difficult for them to know if Sanjaya placed higher among the bottom three? Glocksen said it’s quiet tough the the eight finalists made it and she did not. She also added that Sanjaya Malakar is different, meaning that every finalist is unique in his or her own way. Sanjaya is Sanjaya, Jordin is Jordin, Chris is Chris and Blake is Blake, she explained. But for her, America is done with her and she’s fine with it. What does Gina think about Sanjaya hanging in the American idol every week? Gina Glocksen said that she is very proud of the boy because he’s still there and comes out every week and gives his all. Do the American Idol contestants know what is going on outside the show? Glocksen told them that the show is really good at keeping them insulated from the things that are being said about them in order to protect them and not let their performances be affected through the entire week. However, they are free to browse through the Internet, but Sanjaya doesn’t bother with it, much less read what is being said about him. Gina Glocksen doesn’t read what is being said about her as well, and neither do the others. Gina says Sanjaya doesn’t go to her to ask for hairtsyling tips. Each one does his or her own thing for the competition. She also commented on the ever-changing hair of Sanjaya. It was awesome, she says. Are there any grumblings or bad feelings about Sanjaya in the group, specially when it seems that Sanjaya is just putting on a show to amuse audience and thus keep him there week after week? Gina Glocksen said that people are pretty fair about what they say in front of people. Who is the real Sanjaya? Gina Glocksen answered that he is exactly what you seen on TV. Sanjaya doesn’t care what anyone thinks. He only does his things to be proud of himself. She loves Sanjaya for being like that, she adds.

Michael Johns – American Idol Contestant

January 20th, 2010
Michael Johns – American Idol Contestant

29 years old

Hometown: Buckhead, GA

Musical Influences: ACDC, The Beatles, Neil Finn, Queen, Otis Redding, INXS and David Bowie

“It’s better to be a has been than a never was.”

-From the American Idol website

Michael Johns is one person who is willing to do everything that it takes for him to make it big. He believes in giving his best in everything that he does. There is simply nothing substandard about this American Idol hopeful. He has earned the admiration of all three judges as well as the AI fans all over the country.

Johns is one of those people who really love to work around music. If he doesn’t make it on American Idol, he will still continue writing music and performing. He wants to record his own albums, go on tour and practically live a good life.

Johns’ favorite artists include Freddie Mercury, Otis Redding, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Stevie Nicks. He has been singing since he was five and he hasn’t stopped yet. He decided to pursue the talent at seventeen. Singing to him was the most natural thing in the world. He enjoyed music a lot that he has been writing songs for quite some time now. He never had formal training in singing, however. He enjoys performing, which is precisely why he tried out for the American Idol. This definitely beats having to work as a mascot although he secretly loved that job.

Auditions and performances

Originally from down under Australia, Michael Johns auditioned for the American Idol in San Diego. For his first audition, he sang “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” and all three judges thought that he was ready for a golden ticket to Hollywood. Even Simon Cowell couldn’t come up with anything negative about the guy. He called him a “white soul singer” and practically told him that it was a great audition.

His luck continued on in Hollywood when he made it to the top 24 with his rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Now, he’s really showing the whole world that there’s more to him than just a good-looking Aussie who wants to be famous just like the rest of them. He got a unanimous vote for him to move forward. In fact, his was considered the best audition thus far. For Hollywood Week, he impressed the judges again with his rendition of “Light My Fire”. He has consistently maintained a positive impression on everyone who was there to listen to him sing. He was able to do the song justice. He literally set the stage on fire with his showmanship. That was yet another great performance to add to the growing list. All the judges thought he did great, yet again. Michael Johns is one of the very few people on the competition who haven’t received negative feedback from the judges so far. The judges loved how he sang so naturally.

Michael Johns is someone that everybody should watch out for. He can well become one of the most interesting and talented performers that the American Idol has ever seen. If you’re still wondering why this guy should make it big, you probably haven’t really heard him sing. Either that or you’re deaf.

Asia?h Epperson – American Idol Contestant

January 19th, 2010
Asia?h Epperson – American Idol Contestant

19 years old

Hometown: Joplin, MO

Musical Influences: Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Toni Braxton

“Speak it into existence! You receive blessings through struggle. Appreciate it.”

-From the American Idol website

From the small town of Joplin, Missouri comes one powerful voice that is ready to take American Idol by storm. Asia’h Epperson’s entry to the famous contest is anything but ordinary. She showed up at the auditions in Atlanta, Georgia dressed to impress, or so Paula Abdul said, and with a brave smile on her face. A couple of minutes into the interview, she relates that her dad just died in a car two days ago and that she somehow wants to dedicate her audition to him. Even Simon Cowell, cold and rude that he can be, got to like her rendition of LeAnn Rimes’ How Do I Live. All three judges were moved by the drama of it all. At the end of her audition, she got a unanimous vote for a gold ticket to Hollywood. Here was a girl who still went ahead to follow her dream in spite of news that may have kept her from performing well.

So aside from the recent drama in her life that obviously helped her get onto the top 24, what is it about Asia’h Epperson that makes her a suitable candidate for the next American Idol? It has to be that soulful voice that got all three judges praising her Hollywood Week performance. Without the influence of the heart-wrenching incident, Randy, Paula and Simon gave her their go-signal for her to continue on with the search.

Although it seems that her personal tragedy is still being used to play up her image in the contest, it seems that Epperson is all set to make everyone believe that she is not only capitalizing on melodrama to get her through the popular reality-based show.

Tidbits

Asia’h Epperson may have captured the attention of fans through her sad story but there is more to her than meets the eye. Aside from singing, she is also fond of dancing, fashion, sports, make-up and acting – the epitome of the total performer in the eyes of those who follow her achievements closely. Her favorite singers include Anthony Hamilton, J. Holiday, Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera.

Family is important for this nineteen-year old shy small town girl. Because her family is not really well off, she learned how to work hard for everything she wants. She believes in giving her hundred percent in everything that she does. According to Epperson, her own family is very supportive of her dream and that is basically what matters for her. They don’t give her false hopes and instead, offers honest opinions and advice about her performances.

For Asia’h Epperson, the American Idol is but a step towards realizing her dream to become a singer. It’s something that she has always wanted to do. Even if she didn’t become the next American Idol, she will never stop singing. She will move on with her life, go to school, get a job and be an ordinary person.

However, based from how she has been doing so far in the American Idol, it seems that viewers will be seeing more of Asia’h Epperson for quite some time.

Ellen Degeneres American Idol

January 19th, 2010
Ellen Degeneres American Idol

Ellen Degeneres is the new Paula Abdul on American Idol.

Paula Abdul won’t be returning in American Idol’s ninth season. News accounts recently revealed that famous talk show host Ellen Degeneres will take the seat of Paula Abdul as American Idol fourth judge in next season. Degeneres will be sitting alongside with other American Idol judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and last season’s addition Kara DioGuardi.

Denegeres admitted that she might lack the credibility in terms of music but American Idol producer Simon Fuller said that her love for music and her understanding of the American audience is expected to bring a unique touch to the panel of judges. Her sense of humor is said to bring warmth and compassion to the show.

Do you think American Idol made the right decision to make Ellen Degeneres as the new fourth judge.

After the news about Ellen Degeneres replacing Paula Abdul in American Idol came out, the fans of the show are caught up in surprise, both happiness and sadness, and curiosity. Most fans would say that Degeneres can also do the good side of Abdul. Setting aside Abdul’s behavior and alcohol problems, she was a nice judge who wants to give contestants a big hug even after singing like a broken transmission. Ellen also gets along with her audience and is expected to do the same with the future American Idol contestants.

Ellen is also very smart and quick and can be a very good competition for Simon Cowell. Both are expected to grace the show with their quips and their one-liners. Ellen is not probably well-educated about music than Abdul. However, when Abdul was a judge, she rarely talks about music, rather, she talks about heart, soul, and all that kind of stuff and we couldn’t imagine Ellen doing less of that.

Do you believe that Ellen Degeneres will become a good American Idol judge?

American Idol?s Notorious Judge Supports Peta

January 19th, 2010
American Idol?s Notorious Judge Supports Peta

PETA, an International non-profit group that promotes animal protection and contests animal abuse, has found its new endorser in the form of American Idol judge Simon Cowell. The infamous judge will be promoting a public service awareness campaign that deals with animal welfare, specifically pertaining to the cruelty of leaving dogs in a vehicle on a hot day.

Cowell strongly asserts his sentiments over the subject matter he previously experienced firsthand. He also realized that not a lot of people are aware that leaving dogs inside a car might cause danger or even kill the animal. And while this is just one crusade, he explores other animal issues, which need to be addressed such as the fur trade with dogs.

Cowell, a 47-year old British artist, is an executive for Sony BMG. Apart from being a judge on American Idol, he is responsible for music themes of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Zig and Zag, and the World Wrestling Federation. Previously, he was also a judge on Pop Idol, The X Factor, and Britain’s Got Talent

This endorsement of Cowell surprises most people, especially avid fans of the reality talent show American Idol where he depicts a stern and rough judge, often uttering straightforward and harsh remarks in auditions and during the show. He maintains that treating people is very different with treating animals. He also attributes his good karma on his behavior towards animals. Cowell said, “Everyone should love animals. If you’re good to animals, your life will be good. And my life is good because I’ve been good to animals. If I see a baby, it’s a baby. If I see a puppy, it’s a whole different ball game. He also emphasized on the importance of loving animals on American Idol. He added, “The people I work with, they’re all animal lovers. It’s part of the criteria for judging the show: you’ve got to like animals.”

There is a lot more to the story that meets the eye, at least, where Kelly Clarkson, the American Idol, is concerned. Her rise to the top of the charts was not an easy one and any struggling singer-wannabe can probably identify with the grit and determination this young pop singer has shown. Kelly Clarkson was born Kelly Brianne Clarkson April 24th 1982 in the small town, Burleson in Texas. Despite her very obvious talent on stage, her first ambition as a child was to become a marine biologist but watching the show ?Jaws? scared her off her career. With her dreams dashed, she was clearly open to suggestions and when a teacher in her school, Pauline Hughes, heard Kelly Clarkson’s rich voice, she was encouraged to join the school choir. And from there, Kelly Clarkson is smitten with singing. Kelly Clarkson soon upgraded her singing portfolio when she was included in the Texas All-State Choir. Even with a voice like hers, she still failed to sell herself to record labels and having no luck at home, the far-sighted Kelly Clarkson saved up enough money from odd jobs as a pharmacy assistant, telemarketer, waitress and assistants in a movie theatre and the zoo, she managed to send herself to California. In the land of Movie Stars, she landed herself as an extra in the popular TV series ?Sabrina? and found herself working with the famous songwriter, Gerry Goffin. Apart from these minor roles, a record deal was not forthcoming. With Mr. Goffin falling ill, her roommate moving out and her apartment burning down, Kelly Clarkson packed her stuff and headed on back home. Although Kelly Clarkson found a STABLE job as a promoter for Red Bull to help pay the bills, she has not given up on her dream. And when a friend told her that there was going to be a singing contest where the public gets to vote on the winner, she gave it a shot. Kelly Clarkson didn’t have high expectations for this contest; with the memory of her failure to get a record deal still fresh in her mind. PLUS she was going to be pitching against 10,000 other talented Americans. But what a surprise it was for Kelly Clarkson when her rendition of Aretha Franklin’s ?Respect? floored the judges. And it was only at that point in time that she realized that she really DID want to win! Feeling revitalized and motivated again, her rendition of Franklin’s ?You make me feel like a natural woman? won even the praise of the most notorious American Idol judge, Simon Cowell. Her first single, ?A Moment Like This?, was released October 2002 and it jumped straight from No. 52 to No. 1 on the Billboard starts, creating history! The jump was noticeably bigger than the jump that the Beatles’ ?Can’t Buy Me Love?. ?Can’t Buy Me Love? only jumped from No.27 to No.1. Kelly Clarkson is now known around the world as the first ever American Idol who has her own brand of down-to-earth charm and a sense of humor to match. People can relate to Kelly Clarkson because we have watched her rise from a ?nobody’ to the ?somebody’ that she is today. We know it’s hard to tell when it comes to the staying power of pop stars but with Kelly Clarkson, we believe that she may be here to stay?.

Former American Idol contestant, writes original song about Love and Redheads!!!

Former American Idol contestant, writes original song about Love and Redheads!!!

So many times people who have tasted fame desire more. Their reasoning and rationale for this continual craving are normally driven by self-serving motives. One listen to the story and music of Sean McNeill and it becomes evident that this up-and-coming musician has an altogether different agenda with the message that he has to share.

McNeill began a would-be road to fame in 2003 like thousands of other Americans this decade on the hit television series American Idol. McNeill’s voice stood out to judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. So much so that Sean found himself alongside finalists such as Bo Bice and eventual 2004 winner Carrie Underwood. The top 50 was as far as McNeill would see the competition through too and in his mind, other pursuits were calling.

Just five short years later, music is once again calling as a focal point in McNeill’s life. Currently leading worship at (The Bridge) in hard-nosed Akron, Ohio, McNeill’s desire to have his voice heard as a solo artist has begun to blossom. McNeill’s music is fresh, full of hope, and love and has just released a brilliant acoustic 5 song EP with songs such as the thought-provoking and stirring “Don’t Be Left Behind”, which created a buzz on local radio, at Cleveland’s 95.5 the Fish, and the playful and up-beat “Autumn” that speaks to anyone looking for that special someone. His song “Redhead” written about his wife, has created a stir everywhere among redheads who have heard the tune.  To download any of Sean’s songs, go to http://www.digstation.com/SeanMcNeill  . God has taught him to rest and abide in him and now Sean has begun to make a noticeable splash on the Northeast Ohio music scene, the most recent and heralded appearance at the ALIVE Festival 2009, one of the largest Christian Music Festivals in the United States. Sean will be doing a special performance on June 20th, the final night ALIVE 09. For more information on ALIVE 09 go to www.alive.org McNeill is currently working on writing more music and continues to look for inspiration from life’s twists and turns, knowing that a second trip to the top focused on presenting a voice of hope, love and sincerity.
